The Tacoma Opera Staff
In an international theatrical career that spans over forty years, Noel has established himself as a stage director, educator and administrator with extensive credentials in opera, operetta and Shakespeare. He has directed productions by such diverse composers and playwrights as Britten, Lehar, Mozart, Puccini, Shakespeare, Smetana, Tchaikovsky and Verdi. Prior to becoming a stage director he appeared on the stage more than 1,000 times in a variety of theatrical and musical genres that include opera, operetta and musicals, as well as Shakespeare, Restoration Comedy, French Farce, 19th Century Melodrama, 20th Century Naturalistic Drama and Theatre of the Absurd. Prior to coming to coming to Tacoma Opera, Noel led opera and theater training programs at the University of Washington, Southern Oregon University, Northwestern University, and Ohio State University.
Our Administrative Director was born and bred in the Tacoma area. She graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2011 with a degree in Business Administration and Hispanic Studies. Nichole has been an opera lover for many years, but recently joined our team to play a critical role behind the scenes. Her love for human connection and helping run a nonprofit has become a passion. She is dedicated to continue making the Tacoma Opera a success in the South Sound region.
Since Fall 2020, Glenn has acted as Tacoma Opera’s Production Manager, arranging dozens of short, online recitals in the Intermezzo series. He has overseen the creation of Tacoma Opera’s new Education & Outreach Program, including the Hansel and Gretel puppet series, for which he also provided the singing translations. His work can also be seen as director of Tacoma Opera’s virtual production of Hoiby’s Bon Appetit! Glenn is also a voice teacher on the faculty of Pacific Lutheran University.
